The congress will use current scientific research to convey and evaluate practical treatment options. Exciting plenaries will provide insights into topics such as sexuality at the end of life, the challenging palliative care of children and young people and an ethics of mindfulness. New legal framework conditions such as the federal framework agreement for SAPV teams and the coordination of regional palliative networks are reason enough to reflect on the new developments in an appreciative, constructively critical and joint manner. Social-ethical and medical-ethical questions will also be given space: how do we position ourselves on the topic of “dealing with death wishes” in hospice and palliative work? The DGP and the DHPV are politically committed to expanding and promoting suicide prevention, which also means a future question for all palliative and hospice facilities, teams, professionals such as volunteers.
